How to Stay Busy After a Long Illness

Coming back from a long and gruelling illness is time consuming and oftentimes quite difficult. If you’re still confined to bed as you complete your recovery, it can be boring and upsetting to be stuck with nothing to do. Luckily, just because you’re in bed doesn’t mean you can stay entertained.

Play Online Games

Being unable to do anything that’s too physical means finding things to do while sitting or lying down. Online games, such as casino or slot games, are a great choice because you can play them on your smartphone or tablet while you rest and recover.

Listen to Audiobooks

There’s something relaxing about being read to and audiobooks are a great way to get lost in a story and distract yourself from being stuck in bed. You can download many of them online or get someone to borrow them from the local library.

Take a Free Class Online

There are many entities that allow the public to access their classes online. If you have always wanted to learn a new skill or find out more about a certain topic, taking a class will give you something to fill your time and won’t get in the way of your recovery.

Do Puzzles

This could be a traditional jigsaw puzzle, or it might be crossword or Sudoku puzzles in books or magazines. You might also like colouring or solving riddles you can find online or in books.

Do a Craft

There are many crafts you can do, even if you can’t move around too much. Try origami, knitting, scrapbooking or painting. These activities can be done while seated and shouldn’t get in the way of the healing process.

Meditate

Meditating can help take your mind off your illness and will help centre you and give you peace of mind during a stressful situation.
